I put this set of instructions together for those who would want to have the lockouts back on a temporary basis (for whatever reason). If you want to show someone that front seat video does not work without the parking brake. This is not designed to give you a switch to make the vehicle "back to normal" (like if you wanted to give the vehicle to a new driver and to lock them out from the functions). This is only for units that function with my flasher circuit (June 06 and before). ![]() ![]() What's going on with all this? Why should I care about this? Here is the way the Z1 functions if the parking brake sense wire from the Z1 is connected to the parking brake. If the parking brake is engaged when you start the vehicle, the flasher will NOT work and the lockouts will be there. If the parking brake is not engaged when you start the vehicle, the flasher WILL work. There will be no lockouts. If the vehicle is running and there are no lockouts and you engage the parking brake (while stopped of course) everything will still be accessable. BUT when you disengage the parking brake the lockouts will be back. You will not be able to get to the locked out functions unless you stop and put the parking brake on OR stop, turn off the vehicle, make sure the parking brake is disengaged and start the vehicle again. ![]() What will this do? Well, if you never use your parking brake anyway. Then leave it disengaged and the flasher will work like normal. If you want to show someone there are lockouts then stop the vehicle and engage the parking brake on. When you disengage the parking brake all the lockouts will be back (and the video will stop playing on the screen). You can engage and disengage the parking brake and show someone that the features are enabled and disabled with the parking brake. Then if you want the unit bypassed again, disengage the parking brake and then turn off the vehicle and then restart it. ![]() I normally use the parking brake, what is with this switch? This way you flip a switch and the parking brake sense wire will be connected to the parking brake. Flip it the other way and it's disconnected. When it is connected it will act like the above method. When it's disconnected you can engage and disengage the parking brake at will and the Z1 will stay bypassed. |
